Neospin Cookie Policy — Plain-English Edition
This page tells you exactly what Neospin stores in your browser, why we store it, and how to clear or refuse it. We have written it for the punter, not for the lawyer. The legal scaffolding sits at the bottom in case you need it.
What a Cookie Actually Is
A cookie is a small text file your browser keeps on behalf of the site you visit. It has a name, a value (often a random string), an expiry date, and a domain it belongs to. When you return to the site, the browser hands those values back. We use cookies for four jobs: keeping you logged in, remembering your preferences, measuring how the site performs, and matching you to relevant promotions. Each job is described below.
The Four Categories We Use
1. Strictly Necessary (essential)
Without these the site does not function. They store your session token, basket of pending bets, language and AU$ currency selection, and your security check-pass status. They expire when you close your browser or after 24 hours of inactivity, whichever comes first. You cannot opt out of these — declining them blocks login.
2. Functional
These remember preferences across sessions: your favourite pokies list, theme (light or dark), notification preferences, and whether you have dismissed an onboarding tour. Retention is up to 12 months. Switching them off costs you convenience but no functionality.
3. Analytics
These help us understand which pages punters use, where they abandon, and what loads slowly on AU 4G. We use Google Analytics 4 and a self-hosted event tracker. Identifiers are pseudonymous; we do not store your name in analytics. Retention: 14 months for GA4, 6 months for self-hosted. You can opt out from the cookie banner.
4. Marketing
These track the campaign you arrived from (paid search, affiliate, email) and let us measure whether a promotion is converting. We use Meta Pixel, Google Ads, and our affiliate platform. Retention: up to 90 days. You can opt out from the cookie banner; doing so does not change the bonuses you receive in your account.
Third-Party Processors
| Processor | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Site usage analytics | 14 months |
| Google Ads | Marketing attribution | 90 days |
| Meta Pixel | Marketing attribution | 90 days |
| Cloudflare | Anti-bot, performance | 30 days |
| Affiliate network | Referral tracking | 30 days |
How to Manage Cookies
Three layers of control:
- Our cookie banner — appears on first visit and again every 12 months. Toggle off Analytics or Marketing categories independently. Strictly Necessary cannot be toggled.
- Browser controls — every modern browser lets you clear, block or set expiry on cookies. Settings > Privacy in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
- Industry opt-outs — Your Online Choices Australia (youronlinechoices.com.au) lets you opt out of multiple ad networks at once.
Changes to This Policy
If we change category definitions or add a processor, the cookie banner will resurface and ask for fresh consent. Material changes are also flagged in the account inbox. The policy itself sits on this page with a "last updated" date, kept in plain English so you can read it without reaching for a dictionary.
